		<description>THE YELLOW WOOD

As individuals and as a society we are often confronted with moments in our lives where we must make choices that have a significant impact on our future and those around us.  In the Road Not Taken, it is at the arrival at The Yellow Wood, that the path diverges.  As a country, we are paralyzed by our political polarization and have allowed sensationalism to drive our conversations. 
In order to really understand the paths available to us, we need to strip away the sensationalism, the roadblocks that have been raised by political strategists, the extremists that continue to be given a podium in which to speak and look to what we really need as a society.  We have an option to take the road we have traveled over and over, or we take the road less traveled that brings us to new ideas and new ways of functioning and caring for each other as a modern society that lifts all of its members up rather than throw the under-privileged to the wolves.

The black and white is not meant to represent good and bad, but rather our near-future selves.  When we take the traveled path, the black shroud becomes our uniform. When we take the path less traveled and move forward with hope, our empathy grows and we drape ourselves in the optimism of creating something beyond us.

		<description>QUE SERA SERA

In February 2012 as part of MSP Fashion Week the Que Sera Sera collection was unveiled.  The collection took inspiration from celebrated Minneapolis artist Frank Gaard.  Gaard's uncompromising color pallet, his collection of painted ponies and swans influenced some of the key imagery either directly or abstractly and strong informed use of colors throughout the collection.  As is typical in Berg's collections, the whimsy was paired with dark undertones.

		<description>COLLECTION: THE MIDNIGHT GARDEN

The Midnight Garden Capsule Collection was created specifically for Dress Rehearsal, an event to benefit the Boys &#38; Girls Club in the Twin Cities. 

The vivacious muse of this collection was the energetic members of the North Boys &#38; Girls Club. The clubs are full of positive, inspiring and unique children which was so evident in the vibrantly painted self portraits that hang on the outside of the building. As the collection evolved and more and more colors were added to the pallet a strong sense of individuality and confidence with oneself became the integral theme. The entire collection is as varied as the singing flowers in Alice in Wonderland with a vast array of silhouettes, textures and colors. It is a celebration of the beauty that is unique to each of us.

		<description>COLLECTION: TRAGICOMEDY

The 20 look collection was informed by the news headlines of 2010.  As a population we are bombarded by images depicting both tragic and comedic situations and our attention span is only held until the next big headline has filled up our twitter feed.  This collection was my chance as a designer to direct the attention of an audience for 9 minutes and remind them that everything that has happened in the past doesn't just fade away, it continues to exist and people continue to live those status updates day in and day out, regardless of our Facebook status.

		<description>COLLECTION: MAME

The collection was inspired by the entrancing character Auntie Mame.  Each piece is not a representation of her wardrobe as presented in the movie but rather an attempt to capture that inner spirit that lifts her and makes her glow.  The use of the Sparkler painting by local artist Ruben Nusz further illustrates that radiance that a strong and independent woman emits.

		<description>COLLECTION: DOLLS

The capsule collection was inspired by the movie Dolls, directed by Takeshi Kitano.  The movie is a tragic love story whose wandering lovers teeter between sanity and insanity.  Each piece is meant to portray a moment where the characters are pulled in one direction or the other creating a feeling of instability.  

A burning image from the movie is of a dead butterfly laying on the grass, one of the wings has become disjointed and lays a quarter of an inch above where it should be.  This feeling of broken beauty is what I am trying to create.
